DFCM Colleagues and Friends,
I’m pleased to announce that, following a nationwide search, Andy Marr has been appointed as the new division director for the Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management. Andy has been serving as interim director of DFCM since October, and has done a fantastic job of leading our more than 230 DFCM employees statewide!
Andy joined the State of Utah in 2011 as an apprentice maintenance specialist at DFCM, and by 2016 he was managing the Capitol Hill complex. He was selected to serve as assistant director of DFCM in 2021, before being named as interim director last year.
DFCM plays an important role in Utah, providing construction management, facility maintenance, and real estate services to state agencies and institutions of higher education, with jurisdiction over nearly 4,300 buildings across the state. DFCM is making great progress on many significant projects and I appreciate the efforts of the entire DFCM team and all of our GovOps colleagues throughout the state.
Andy has demonstrated strong leadership abilities over the past nine months as interim division director, and in prior roles. I’m confident he’ll do an excellent job of leading the division’s essential work that will leave a lasting impact for future generations.
Andy moved to Utah from Seattle, WA in 2009 after completing a master’s degree in environmental science. Drawn by the state’s world-class ski resorts, he put down roots in Utah to build a family and career here. Andy and his wife Chloe have two little girls and together they enjoy skiing, canyoneering, whitewater rafting, and camping.
Please join me in congratulating Andy on his new assignment!
All the best,
Marv
