A message from GovOps Executive Director, Marvin Dodge –
With sadness, but tremendous respect and many fond memories, I announce the resignation of Jim Russell as Director of DFCM. Following approximately twenty years of Jim’s influence and leadership within the division, he will be missed by all. Jim has accepted a Vice President post at the University of Utah with responsibility for all facilities. Those Utes just made a fantastic decision though I’m disappointed to see Jim leave!
We are initiating a nationwide search for a new DFCM director. In the interim, I have asked Mike Ambre to serve as interim director of the division. DFCM will be in very capable hands under Mike’s direction.
Mike’s tenure with DFCM has spanned over 20 years resulting in his involvement in every aspect of the division, from maintenance, to real estate, to managing the most complex and expensive projects the state has ever undertaken including the new correctional facility and the new north building on Capitol Hill. His most recent assignment included serving as Deputy Director under Jim.
I appreciate Mike’s willingness to step in and keep DFCM moving forward as we conduct this recruitment. I have had the pleasure of working closely with Mike and have full confidence and trust in his leadership.
