How to Become a DFCM Pre-qualified Contractor

STEP ONE

CREATE A SCIQUEST ACCOUNT

The first step to doing work for DFCM is to create a SciQuest account (the State's supplier portal). Not only do we post solicitations for our jobs on SciQuest, we also post solicitations for contractors to be added to our Pre-qualifed Contractor's List as well.

Because many of our jobs are only available to contractors on our Pre-qualified List, your company should strongly consider getting pre-qualified.

So, before you do anything else, the first step to winnning jobs is to create a SciQuest account. You can create an account here.

STEP TWO

KNOW YOUR DEADLINES

Once you've created an account, it's time to respond to our solicitation. At the beginning of January each year, we open a solicitation to be added to our Pre-qualified Contractor's List and try to get as many of you to apply as possible. We leave it open for nearly 3 months, hoping that everyone will apply. But, the day finally comes when we need to close it and start reading everything that you submitted. We close the solicitation at the end of March. Then, all those who made it through will be on the list and will qualify to start doing work in April!

Unfortunately, some of our friends will miss the first deadline or won't provide the required information the first time. For them, we'll open another solicitation in July that will run until September. Then it'll close and anyone who made that list can start working in October.

That's it. We open the list up twice a year and hope that everyone applies. And for those who miss the deadline, we hope to hear from you when the next solicitation opens.

STEP THREE

KNOW AND SUBMIT YOUR DOCUMENTS ON TIME

We've tried to make filling out the documents as easy as possible. Here's a blank copy for you fill out and submit before the deadlines in April and September. The document requires some detailed information that may take you a while to provide, so please don't wait until the eleventh hour to begin filling this out.

We've also provided a detailed instruction document that gives you a little more context and a better idea of exactly what we're looking for.

STEP SIX

RENEW YOUR EXISTING PRE-QUALIFICATION

Just because you made it onto one our Pre-qualified Contractor's Lists once doesn't mean you'll stay there forever. Every 18 months, we require contractors to re-apply. Download the DFCM Pre-qualification Renewal Packet, follow the instructions, and re-submit to stay on the list.

If you're wondering if your company is still on the list or when your pre-qualification lapses, take a look at our current lists.
