BACKGROUND OF STUDY

This study was requested by Governor Huntsman to explore alternative uses of this property and the economic feasibility of relocating the Draper Prison.  The Legislature appropriated $150,000 for the study in the 2005 Regular Session.  The study was managed by the Division of Facilities Construction and Management with assistance from the Department of Corrections.

Public comments were obtained on a draft Request for Proposals which was then finalized and issued on May 10, 2005.  See RFP and Revision #1.

A consulting team led by Wikstrom Economic & Planning Consultants was selected on June 10, 2005 to conduct the study.  See Press Release.

The methodology used by the consultants in conducting the study is described in their report.
